Not bad for a Thursday

The story Anotherealm bought from me last year has now been published online! YAY!

I did some queries and other writer-type stuff when I got home instead of my geochemistry homework. Whoops. I have all weekend to do the homework, though, so I'm not too worried about it. (She says, not realizing that on Monday night she'll be tearing her hair out by the handful and weeping bitterly because she can't derive the goddamn three box ocean model equation...) And of course, there are papers I ought to be reading, but there are always papers I ought to be reading.

Instead when mike went home, I went out and bought... a dress! I KNOW, RIGHT? An actual dress. Well, two dresses, technically, but one of them is a Halloween costume that will give me an excuse to wear my stripper shoes. But the for real dress will be worn to the wedding Mike and I are attending on Saturday. Hopefully it is suitable wedding guest wear. It's a lot like the dress I recently had to get rid of because it was way too big on me, except this one has a lot of color and patterns on it, so I feel incredibly adventurous.

And Mike got a zillion good husband points for not only going with me on this dress shopping expedition, but being in the dressing room and zipping the dresses up, and attempting to comment on how they looked. AND going with me to Lane Bryant and waiting patiently while I bought a new strapless bra, because weight loss also means my boobs have shrunk a bit.

And regarding good husband points:
Mike: So these good husband points... are they like achievement points in WoW, where I just get to brag about how many I have, or do I actually get to spend them on something I want?
Me: You get to spend them if it's on something I want too. Otherwise, they're just trophies.
Mike: That's what I thought.

But let's be honest... most good husband points would be spent on things like getting to watch the football game with one's buddies. The kind of activities Mike doesn't do anyway. At least I tell myself that so I can sleep at night.

School's going okay. I'm trying to remember how to be busy and have a brazillion things I need to do every day. I'm putting my planner to good use. I'm also an officer in the CU student chapter of the AAPG, because Gaby managed to talk me into it and I'm too weak-willed to say no to her apparently. So far I haven't brought forth a rain of murderous destruction, but we've only had one officer meeting. But I apparently surprised everyone by taking five pages of detailed notes, after which I typed up a summary and mailed it off to everyone. I just kind of figured that's what the secretary is supposed to do... you know, write stuff down.

Mike finally got his Christmas present, which was the copy of Deus Ex 3 I pre-ordered for him back in November. He seems pleased with it so far, and is tickled that once again there's at least some realism to the way the inventory space is. I've glanced over at it a couple of times and it looks pretty enough. And you can also wildly fire your gun over whatever you're taking cover behind, which I find funny. I finally finished the next chapter of my Thor fanfic while he was playing, so that was also good.

But now he's gone to bed, so I'm going to write a bit more on this other story until I'm too sleepy. Tomorrow there's a guy from My Chef coming over to cook three meals up for me and Mike. It's a present my mom gave to us for our anniversary. So we'll see how that goes.

Looks like Mike is doing a lot of good husbandery in general! Everytime I see you you look to be in better and better shape, it's exciting, although I have to admit, I am yet to see you in a dress...

I read "Transportation" as soon as I saw this post. Like nearly all of your works, I'll be thinking about that world and the story's implications for a long time. You create really enthralling worlds, even in your very short stories (like the 15-minute ficlets).

I'm glad that you enjoyed it! :) I tend to overthink my worlds a little at times, but it seems to work out. XD
